Temporary Editor & Translator for Internal Communications (m/f/x) – Brussels – MSF Belgium 

CONTEXT  

We’re looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to temporarily step in as an editor and translator for the Internal Communications Unit.  

As Editor & Translator, you’ll assist with important internal communications and events that bring everyone together. You will have the opportunity to get creative with content, design, and video projects. Additionally, you’ll acquire valuable experience in a diverse communications role, while also offering transversal support to the Unit. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES  

Editing & Translation 

  • Translate and edit content for the Intranet and our internal magazine Contact from English to French  
  • Ensure all communications are clear, engaging, and aligned with our tone of voice. (2 days)  

Contact Magazine Preparation 

  • Manage the editorial calendar, oversee the content creation process, and coordinate with contributors to meet deadlines. (1 day)  

Event Support 

  • Assist in organizing and promoting internal events such as the End of Year Party and the MSF Movie Night (0.5 day)  

Translation Coordination: 

  • Work closely with the DG department to coordinate translations for internal materials and ensure consistency. (hours)  

Intranet Support (1 day):  

  • Assist in the migration of documents and ensure proper categorization and alignment in the intranet libraries.  
  • Support Information & Knowledge Managers (IKMs) in maintaining intranet content.  
  • Perform routine checks to ensure alignment and consistency in document placement and accessibility.  

Graphic Design & Video Editing 

  • (Preferred): Help with basic graphic design tasks and video editing for internal communications purposes. (0.5 day)  

REQUIREMENTS 


Education & Experience 

  • At least 1 year experience in translation and editing, particularly for internal communications or similar publications 

Competencies 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in French   
  • Comfortable working with SharePoint and the MS Office environment  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage meticulous tasks  
  • Graphic design and/or video editing skills are a strong advantage 
  • A team player who can work collaboratively with various departments while also taking initiative and working independently 

Languages 

  • Native French Speaker mandatory 
  • Fluency in English required 

CONDITIONS 

  • Expected starting date: As soon as possible 
  • Location*: Brussels 

*Due to legal administrative constraints and the duration of the contract, candidates must already be resident in Belgium with a permanent right to work in Belgium or with residence permit/document with "unlimited access to the labor market; or have a permanent right to work in Belgium as citizen of the European Union with willingness to relocate in Belgium at their own costs  

  • Contract type: Fixed term contract – Full-time or 80% (4 out of 5 days) 
  • Contract duration: 4 to 5 months 
  • Salary according to MSF-OCB HQ grid 
  • Meal Vouchers - Hospital Insurance (DKV) – Pension Plan – 100% reimbursement for public transportation costs
